NICM officially became Operation Lunchbox. At the end of the 2016-2017 school year, we were giving groceries to over 1200 students and in 26 schools within Henry, Clayton and Butts County.
NICM partnered with 3 schools in Henry County Georgia and 1 school in Butts County Georgia. Throughout the year, we added additional schools 16 schools. Operation Lunchbox fed approximately 10,000 students.
The parents of the children who benefit from the food items supplied by Operation Lunchbox are working hard to provide the best they can for their families, and the children are working hard in school every day. Their faces light up when our teams come to bring these items and it's all you can do to keep from weeping when they hug your leg and show such innocence and gratitude.
One little girl shared that she and her mother had been sleeping in their car. She was still attending school faithfully, but she told Dave that she needed clean underwear, as her mother was having to wash hers out in a sink every night. He went out right away and got these items and delivered them to the school's counselors to give to her. This is just one of many stories that would break your heart.
NICM-Operation Lunchbox grows to feeding more than 15,000 children in a single year. During this year, we began the name change process to Operation Lunchbox
New Man In Christ Ministries began
the 501c3 Non-Profit Organization.
Operation Lunchbox provides non-perishable foods for children in Henry, Butts, and Clayton counties every week. We work with the schools to provide bags for children to take home on the weekends. We strive to be a constant in the lives of these children so that they have confidence that there will be something in the pantry for them when they are hungry and so that they know that their friends and neighbors are here to lend a hand when help is needed. We all have needs, and we are all charged to care for our neighbors. Please search your hearts and help us to bring smiles to the faces of these children who aren't oceans away but are in your backyard, they are friends with your children, and in some tough circumstances, their story is yours.
